My Story

A joyful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22

I grew up in a happy family with two brothers. Our family went camping each summer and we were able to see much of the United States. Each fall, our church would have a missions emphasis month where various missionaries would come and share their wonderful stories. I loved to travel and my interest in missions began in my elementary years however I had a lot to learn about the need of a Savior.

In college, through the Navigator ministry I better understood why Jesus came to live among us, how to share my faith, and to live according to the scriptures. After graduate school and getting married, I taught for 4 years. I was able to be at home to raise our 3 children. Along with home schooling, playing in a symphony, teaching private violin lessons, and serving at our church, my life was abundantly full.

I have had some health issues, working through cancer two times. I have learned to be thankful for every breath, to better understand those who go through various tests and pain in illness, and deeply appreciate my family and faith family from the depth of my soul.

In 1997, my husband and I both sensed God moving us into a new direction. We had housed missionaries in our home for various conferences. The suggestion to serve Christ at a Missionary Kid school came to mind. After training with TEAM, in 2000, we moved to Germany to teach. Two of our children graduated from the Black Forest Academy. I have taught violin and 2nd grade. The German musicians have embraced me in a symphony orchestra, a chamber orchestra, and I have had the honor to play on various worship teams. My husband and I truly enjoy pouring into students and it is done with happy hearts.
