My Story

I first went to Japan with TEAM as a Summer Worker in 1978. I planned to be there for 10 weeks but the Lord challenged and directed me to stay on for a year, working in rural evangelism in Nagano prefecture. My second year in Japan was spent in full-time language study at International Christian University (ICU) in Mitaka-city, Tokyo. After getting married and supporting my husband Tim through seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, we returned to Japan on August 1, 1984 as TEAM missionaries. We have 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren.

Ministry Focus:

After returning from our Home Assignment in the summer of 2013 we have been preparing for full-time ministry in the Tohoku area of Japan. This is where the triple disasters (earthquake/tsunami/nuclear reactor meltdown) that hit Japan on March 11, 2011 were centered. We hope to move in the spring of 2014.

While our children were growing up we were involved in camp ministry for 4 years, church planting for 14 years, and family ministries for 10 years. While my main responsibility has been running our home I have been active in women’s ministries, local outreach and committee work with TEAM.

Primary Prayer Request:

Please pray with us that God would clearly guide us to where He wants us to live and work in the Tohoku area of northern Japan.
