My Story

I was raised in a nominally Catholic family, and by the time I stopped attending church, I had more questions about Christ and Christianity than I did when I started. More than two decades later, I finally had my curiosity satisfied and accepted Christ as my savior. By that time I had been in the Navy about six years and my wife and I had two sons. I retired from the Navy after 22 years, and providentially accepted work as a contractor supporting the Navy in Naples, Italy.

During the 8 years we were in Naples, the problem of human trafficking became glaringly obvious to my wife and me. To make a very long story short, my wife and I were appointed missionaries to Italy by TEAM of the purpose of bringing the gospel and sharing Christ's love to this largely forgotten segment of humanity. We are here for a period of "reset", to build a support team and look to return to Italy in the summer of 2018.

Missionary Focus: We desire to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to those trapped in the darkness of human trafficking and to disciple young believers in the church. Herb specifically feels a unique calling to come alongside pastors in a support role within the church.

The People: Italy needs the gospel of Jesus Christ. Evangelical Christianity accounts for less than 1 percent of the population and of those who call themselves Catholic, only five percent are practicing. Italy is one of the top destination countries for women trafficked into prostitution in all of Europe.

Prayer Request: Pray for us as we begin this new journey and that we will faithfully seek God’s will and not our own.
