My Story

The Jansson division of TEAM Japan consists of on-the-field missionaries, Matt and Tori Jansson, and state side missionaries, which include the congregations of Grace EV Free LaMirada and Fullerton, Palmdale Community Church, and the Highlands Christian Fellowship, as well as 85 families and individuals from Orange County, Los Angeles, the Antelope Valley, in addition to other locations across America.

Tori works with the Tokyo Metro Ministry Initiative running a café church that seeks to be a Japanese-relevant place where believers can fellowship and seekers can comfortably learn about Christianity. Matthew works in TEAM Japan’s office, filling administrative and accounting roles that make other missionaries’ ministry across Japan possible.

Our vision is to see the Japanese people reached through contextualized ministries that disciple and raise up Japanese believers to be the church in their own nation and be sent out to reach the nations. We desire to see thriving and reproducing churches in Japan, and for this nation to be raised up to be a key sending nation in accomplishing the Great Commission.

Ministry Focus:

I work at SonRise Cafe in central Tokyo. This cafe/church's goal is for strangers to become friends, friends to become seekers, seekers to become believers, believers to become disciples, and disciples to become kingdom laborers. I work primarily in the daily runnings of the cafe, building relationships through English hours, special events, Bible studies, and connecting with local university students on a weekly basis. I also help with the worship ministry at our weekly service on Sunday mornings.
