My Story

After spending a summer in Central America working first-hand in community development, I knew God was calling me back to Latin America after college – I had unfinished business to attend to. God's calling fits so well with my passions for language, culture, conflict management, and serving the poor. I am so thankful that I get to work with TEAM for two years (which started in Aug of 2017), building community and discipling women in the heart of Guatemala City.

Ministry Focus:

Iglesia Reforma, a 2015 church plant with TEAM missionaries in Guatemala, exists to mobilize the community of Christ to proclaim and embody the kingdom of God. We are convicted about connecting the Church outside of its own four walls. How can we connect our church (and other churches) that have healthy, reciprocal, gospel-centered relationships with communities of need? The way I am approaching this question is through women's ministries and outreach in the community of Bethania.

The People:

Most of Guatemalans would call themselves Christians, but the culture's view of Jesus and his grace has been warped by the Prosperity Gospel and works-based theology. Additionally, 75% of Guatemalans live in poverty, while 58% would be considered extreme poverty. Through TEAM, the love of God can provide hope and transformation to the communities in Guatemala City.

Primary Prayer Request:

Pray that God would guide my steps during my time here, that he would provide divine conversations and interactions that break down the lies that run rampant here and bring people closer to Him. Pray for unity within the church, that conflicts would be resolved quickly and that people would take correction well. Pray that ultimately God would be glorified here in this city.
