I was born and raised in Flushing, Michigan and God gave me a heart for missions when I was 15 years old. Since that call, I've been drawn to serve and love the people of Latin America. I graduated from Hope College with a major in International Studies and a minor in Spanish (with a semester abroad in Chile). After college I did two years of missions with YWAM in Montana and in Ensenada, MX.
In addition to Latin American culture, I also have a deep love for inclusion and for Bible teaching. I've worked with people with special needs for 11 years and inclusion is hugely impactful not just for the individual, but for the community as well. The same can be said for Bible study! I love the 'aha' moments when God's character is revealed through Scripture. I graduated from a 9 month Inductive Bible School where historical background and contextual understanding were key in learning the Bible. I use those same technics in teaching to bring a clearer understanding to what was written in the past, and what it means for us today.
Two loving parents-- fourth out of five kids-- three cats!
My ministry focus is English and Bible teaching, discipleship, mentoring at an orphanage, creating friendships, strengthening church relationships, spreading the message of Jesus Christ, and serving the people of Guadalajara.
Guadalajara consists of a lot of upper-middle class families who are striving for success, but are struggling to find their purpose and are lacking a good community. My mission is for the people of Guadalajara to know Jesus as Lord, to invite them into a loving community, and to change hearts of religiosity to hearts of relationship.
