My Story

I grew up in western New York. My home was Christ-centered and focused on missions. I put my faith in Jesus when I was 6 and experienced the call of God in my life at a summer family camp the year I turned 10. I grew up wanting to be a missionary-nurse-pioneer-martyr.

When I was 15 my world was shaken when my whole family was in a car accident in which my father was killed and my brother injured, resulting in physical challenges for a lifetime. During this time of my life I learned to trust God in a deeper way and saw Him guide specifically and provide incredibly.

I received a BSN from Roberts Wesleyan College near Rochester, NY and went to graduate school for ministry preparation at Columbia Graduate School of Bible and Missions, now known as Columbia International University. During my years at Columbia I also served as the school nurse. I met Steve at Columbia and we were married July 14, 1979. The Lord gave us 2 daughters, Stephanie and Elizabeth. While we were preparing to serve the Lord cross-culturally I worked primarily as a pediatric nurse.

In 1983 we went to Italy and have served there for the past 30 years in 3 different cities, Forli’, Bologna, and Mestre as a church planter. I was involved in women’s ministries, evangelism, discipleship, and lots of hospitality. I initiated a ministry called “Non Solo Café”, which was an evangelistic outreach and promoted networking among churches. In the early years when our children were young I developed an itinerate education program that augmented our children’s bi-cultural education.

In 2001 I returned to seminary to re-tool and improve my serve. For the next few years, during each home assignment, I worked on a M.A. in Counseling at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary and received my degree in 2010.

Family:

Ministry Focus:

My ministry focus is leadership development. I have been discipling the wives of the elders in the New Hope Church. It is my privilege to counsel several people to enable them to be and do what God asks of them. Counseling from a Christian perspective is not readily available in Italy.

I am a firm believer of lifelong learning. At present I am working on being a certified coach with CoachNet so that I can walk alongside and help leaders in Italy reach the goals they believe God has called them to do.In my coaching role I have the opportunity to walk alongside young leaders as they discover and fulfill God?s purposes for them.
