Joy is a third generation missionary. Her parents were missionaries in the Philippines, and her grandparents served in Africa. We both trusted Christ as Savior when we were young. I responded to Christ's call on my life for missions when I was a teen. Joy and I met in Bible college, joined TEAM and arrived in the Philippines in 1991. We have helped to start new churches, hosted short term ministry teams and short term missionaries, and I have taught Filipino church planters. In 1996, we started the Church Planting Institute (CPI), with the goal of helping Filipino churches multiply churches. Joy enjoys baking and serving others; I enjoy writing poetry and Alabama football (and eating Joy's pecan pie!)
church multiplication coach/new missionary coach
Joy and I have 6 children: Melody, Rachel, Rebekah, Daniel, Ruth & Paul
We currently teach in the Church Planting Institute (CPI), coach church planters as they train new church planters, and help Filipinos go as church planters to other countries in Asia. We are also mission coaches for new and prospective missionaries interested in investing their lives in the work of Christ with TEAM.
Filipinos are friendly, loyal, industrious, adaptable, resilient, and natural networkers. When God gave us a handful of committed believers, they quickly learned how to disciple others. They have been starting churches since then, and are learning how to train a new generation of Filipino church planters.
Primary Prayer Request:
Please pray that the Filipinos we have trained will be able to train the next generation of workers to train another generation of church planters. Pray that through them, churches will continue to multiply until Jesus comes again, and that everyone will know that God did it.
