My Story

I have always known that the way I would live out my love for God would be in working with children. I grew up in Seattle with three brothers, and while my early childhood involved the separation and eventual divorce of my parents, I always knew that God had a plan for my life, that I was created for a purpose and that I was loved. After I graduated from high school I went to George Fox University to get my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I was able to attend due to a track and field scholarship. At the end of my senior year I met my future husband, Jon, on a blind date. During that summer we dated, that fall he proposed and we were married June 25, 2000, the happiest day of my life!

In our early years of marriage we committed to the Lord that we would pursue missions when He laid the plan before us. So we waited on the Lord. I was a full time public school second grade teacher, while Jon worked as a worship leader, guitar professor, and real estate broker.

In March 2004 we welcomed our firstborn, Sean. And while that was a big change, the biggest change in our lives happened nine months later when a massive tsunami hit SE Asia, including Jon's childhood home of Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Jon immediately went on a relief trip in the wake of the disaster, and we knew all too well that this was the catalyst for change, that we would be heading into the mission field. God lead us into TEAM, and to work for him in Chiang Mai Thailand. We landed on the field January 25, 2006, and in June of that year we welcomed our second child, Anna.

During our time here in Thailand the Lord has led us through many things. In September we welcomed our third child, Isabelle Jane. We have been through the years of language study, helped to start a bilingual preschool for Thai foster children, and most recently led us to start an Art and Music Center with our TEAM partners, Ken and Wendy Paizs. This is the most exciting part of our journey so far as it brings the hard work in language, Jon and Ken's natural gifts and abilities in music and art, and our spiritual gifts that so beautifully compliment each other. We look forward to seeing how God will work through us here in this country, where barely 1% even know the Good News in Jesus Christ.

Primary Prayer Request:

-That the country of Thailand breaks free from the darkness of spirit worship and Buddhism and is flooded with the light of the love of God. That many would come to a living relationship with their Creator, that they would know Jesus.

-Prayers of protection over our marriage and over our three children. They attend Grace International School.

-Prayers of gratitude for our faithful supporters back home in the States.

-That we be so firmly in God's hands that when we look back at our journey we can see how His Hand was in everything. We pray that all we do will always point to what God did so that His Glory is always revealed.
