Protests Lead to Refugee Ministry in Germany

How to Pray for Urban Ministries

City train. Urban ministries have to compete with the busy lives of city-dwellers.
It’s been a tough season for cities, but missionaries are working hard to bring hope to people in need. Here’s how we can pray.

The last year has ravaged the world’s cities. COVID-19 regulations shut down businesses — many to never recover. Low-income workers struggled to find work, and many went without food for days at a time. Meanwhile, wealthier professionals abandoned cities after realizing they could work from anywhere. And various protests have disrupted what little peace was left. “Unrest is more predominate as people are questioning the authorities of government, religion and the Thai Kingdom,” says TEAM missionary Kennedy Paizs. Yet, despite cities’ failings, missionaries like Kennedy see them as a key part to fulfilling the Great Commission. A year before COVID-19,…

‘Nobody Believes in God Here’

Anne reads her Bible
Becoming a Christian was life-changing for Anne, but her partner hated it. Was following Jesus going to cost Anne her closest relationship?

Despite its post-Christian culture, Germany loves a good Easter celebration. They take four days to celebrate, from Good Friday through Monday. They hold Easter markets and share amazing food. They shut down offices. Few people actually believe in the miracle of the holiday, but they know the story. So when a German celebrates Easter as a believer for the first time, it’s a day like no other. For the first time, this wonderful holiday has meaning beyond what they could ever have imagined. ‘All This Will End’: A Refugee’s Story

refugee story

Kadan’s brother ran home to tell the family, but Amal wasn’t home. Rescue workers quickly loaded Kadan into an ambulance. By the time Amal got home and heard the news, her son was gone. Amal rushed to the local hospital, but Kadan had already been transferred somewhere else. In…

Protests Lead to Refugee Ministry in Germany

After the tragic murder of Khalid, a refugee from Eritrea in Germany, two missionaries were called into action and found themselves intersecting with Khalid's story in a surprising way. Photo by Jeff Ingram

The global refugee crisis presents new opportunities for Christians to share the gospel in word and deed. As critical needs grow, TEAM missionaries continue to partner with the local church to welcome the nations arriving on their doorstep. This month we are sharing these testimonies and hope you will follow along on TEAM’s social media and blog.  Today, Jeff Ingram, worker in Germany, gives his first-hand account of an event that made headlines earlier this year and shares how God has continued to involve his family in refugee ministry.  One Monday evening in January 2015, my wife and I went mattress shopping in downtown Dresden….
