What’s New at Missions Place? [Photo Journal]

The collaborative workspace at Missions Place invites kingdom workers to work side-by-side locally for the sake of the gospel globally.

Missions Place by TEAM was started in 2013 as a “storefront” concept for international missions. Since then, thousands of people have walked through the doors of Missions Place to to attend an event, talk to staff about missions or simply enjoy a coffee. This year, Missions Place takes its next step with the addition of a collaborative workspace. This relaxed, shared working environment brings together a local, kingdom-minded community in cities for the sake of the gospel around the world. Meet Our Missions Place Site Managers

It’s an exciting time at TEAM! Our first Missions Place, located in Maryville, Tennessee, turned one year old in July. Our second Missions Place, located in Wheaton, Illinois, is right behind with a birthday this week, and a third Missions Place in Grapevine, Texas is expected to open this fall. Our Missions Places are all about community and connection. These spaces serve as a bridge between our everyday world and the “missions” world, bringing people and communities together to learn about what God is doing across the globe. Here’s an easy resolution you could accomplish in this New Year.

If you haven’t visited us yet in one of our Missions Places (or at our main offices in Wheaton), this year may be your chance. But if your travels aren’t taking you near our storefronts in Wheaton, Ill., or Maryville, Tenn., we’ve made it easier than ever to come see us. Bridging the Gap Between Missions and Communities

“Mission” is a funny word. It has almost as many meanings as people you might ask to define it. When used in an overseas context, as it is in our name, The Evangelical Alliance Mission, it conjures images of workers in far-off cities, eating exotic food and speaking hard-to-learn languages. When used in U.S. communities, “mission” is likely to bring to mind your local meal outreach or homeless shelter, or maybe a young couple living “missionally” by deliberately moving into a distressed inner-city neighborhood.
