What Can Mount Kilimanjaro Teach You About God?

Brett Miller's climb up Mount Kilimanjaro was just supposed to be a fun adventure. Instead, he came away with enduring lessons about his faith. Photo courtesy of Brett Miller.

As a missionary to Swaziland, my job feels like a vacation, so I don’t often take one. But this year, friends and family gave a generous gift with strict instructions that the money was to be used on something I wanted to do — but not on anything ministry related. Some friends and I decided that, despite my being 54, we should climb to the highest peak in Africa. When we arrived at the base of Kilimanjaro, the guides told us there are four rules to follow to summit the mountain. He told us we must: Have a good attitude….

Children Freed from Sex and Alcohol

Swaziland
Superrose wanted to share the Gospel in her native country of Swaziland, but she couldn't afford Bible college and ministry training... without friends like you. Photo by TEAM

That’s why Bible colleges and institutes in Swaziland, South Africa and Lesotho are so vital — and why prayers for their success are so important. This month, will you pray with us for the success of healthy, true biblical teachings in…

Today, TEAM missionary Brett Miller shares about how missionaries impact cultures in good and bad ways — and how to avoid the latter. Recently, I went pheasant hunting with some friends of my Dad who were kind enough to include me in their circle. It was a special day and, as one of them pointed out, likely my last day of pheasant hunting. There are no pheasants in Swaziland, where my wife and I are going to serve as missionaries. One of the men I was hunting with made a perceptive comment. He told me that missions had done serious…
