Eleos Ministries

The Need
Eleos Ministries exists for the sole purpose of glorifying and proclaiming Jesus Christ to the displaced and homeless, the persecuted and needy, both indigenous and those who have found themselves in Athens along their journey.

Greece is currently host to more than one million refugees. Most of these are from Muslim backgrounds: Afghans, Iranians, Syrians, Moroccans, Bengalis, Pakistanis and Sudanese, to name a few, and they have fled their war-torn homelands, running for their lives and arrive in Athens, only to find closed doors, oppression and continued threats of violence.

Hellenic Ministries’ Response
We believe the Lord seeks to use these circumstances as an opportunity to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who have never had opportunity to hear of His saving love, because it is illegal to do so in their countries. This current situation in Athens provides for a truly unique opportunity to reach into the Muslim world so that these refugees may be given the chance to hear the truth, accept Jesus and find life in Him.

We seek to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ through the meeting of basic human needs such as providing showers, laundry services, clothing, meals, general healthcare services and biblical teaching. In this way, we present the message of the Gospel both in word and in deed. It is our goal to hold out Jesus as the only true source of life and to make disciples of those whom we serve.

Your Participation
First and foremost, our greatest need is for you to partner with us in prayer. Pray that Jesus would be clearly glorified throughout all we do and that He would be made known as the only Way, Truth and Life to all the nations. Secondly, we need workers to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Within the work of Eleos Ministries, you will find numerous ways in which your specific gifts and talents can be used. Whether your desire is to serve in a short-term effort or to become a part of our core team, the workload is plentiful and the need is continually overwhelming. Thirdly, if you are unable to come to Athens and participate yourself, the giving of your financial resources to Eleos Ministries will be put to use within one of the most valid and straightforward mission efforts in the Kingdom today. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
