Lesotho Ministry Community

Vision:
TEAM Southern Africa is committed to promoting revival in Lesotho by developing the leaders in existing churches to transform their communities and the world with the love of Christ. Our vision is to disciple leaders who are devoted Christ-followers, having marriages and families that bring God honor and are an example in the church and community. They will be grace-driven, missional, willing to empower others for ministry and work across cultural barriers.
Missionaries:
We are actively recruiting new workers for this region.
Ministry Focus:
TEAM has been invited by several different groups to assist in leadership development. Currently, we have been focusing on amaZioni leaders in partnership with ZEMA (Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa) and local church leaders. Beginning in 2016, we are offering official ZEBS classes (Zion Evangelical Bible School), sending a team monthly to train amaZioni leaders in Butha-Buthe. There are also opportunities for work with leaders of other denominations, as well as to encourage youth to make wise choices for their future through character-based abstinence training.
Who are the amaZioni? In 1904, missionaries from Zion, Illinois came to South Africa to share the gospel. After four years, they were recalled for financial reasons. Many of their converts reverted to a mix of Christianity, ancestor worship and African traditions. Seventy years later, their numbers had grown to between 12-15 million and spanned much of southern Africa. In 1980, missionaries from Zion felt a responsibility to return to southern Africa to train amaZioni leaders in biblical truth, recalling them to biblical faith. TEAM partners with ZEMA (Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa), and a multicultural team of teachers to train leaders of these churches who are now hungry for biblical truth. There are many more amaZioni leaders asking for training—we cannot meet the demand.
