Porto Astro

Just north of Athens lies Hellenic Ministries’ base of operations for its camp and maritime ministries, Porto Astro. Porto Astro is a rugged piece of land, approximately 5.5 hectares (13.5 acres), originally used as an olive orchard. Hellenic Ministries has planned extensive development for this property, possibly housing a campground for refugee children where they could learn of the love of Christ, a conference center to promote the Word of God, and much more.

Today, Porto Astro serves as the host site for Hellenic Ministries’ Sports Camps and it also functions as a retreat center for church group outings. Porto Astro is the home base for Hellenic Ministries’ sailing vessel, the Morning Star. This 17 meter (55 ft) ship is used in a variety of ways, reaching the thousands of miles of Greece’s coastline and beyond, to ports throughout the Eastern Mediterranean.

There is plenty of work to be done as we develop this unique and beautiful property, and the support of brethren around the world is essential in accomplishing these things for the glory of God.
