Shinshu Community Church

Who Are We?

The Shinshu Community Church in Miyota was re-established in 2010 by Pastor Nagashima who was soon joined by missionaries Rob and Yoko Taylor. It has its areas that need growth, however, it is currently a more established church and is now in a healthier situation.

The church in Ueda is still in its infant stages and is in need of full-time workers to help the church people build bridges from the church into the community and the community into the church in order to build relationships and share the love of Christ.

The Shinshu Community church is primarily made up of people in their mid-20s to early 50s. We are blessed with many children of all ages. We strongly believe that the church is not a building or simply a Sunday morning meeting, but the people of God through Christ. This desire does not end with our local communities; world missions is in our DNA. We have adopted a people group in a country in East Asia and took a mission trip there the end of 2017.

Who Is Involved?

Rob & Yoko Taylor

Ministry Vision:

We desire to bring the parallel lines of church and community together in the communities of Ueda City and Miyota Town.  We want to create a bridge with two-way traffic from the church, the people of God, to the community, and from the community to God’s people.  We accomplish this in two ways: 1) by training leaders in the church and creating a self-sustaining, reproducible church with a heart for their community and the world and 2) by teaching the church to make bridges to the gospel by being involved in the community,  building relationships and showing the love of Christ in practical, felt ways.

Target group: Our focus is the local community, especially youth and young people, around us in Miyota.

Types of activities:

Miyota: Coaching basketball, mother/babies English class, a parenting class for mothers, working with two orphanages, world missions in East Asia with our adopted people group, youth group, Life Group Bible study groups, one-on-one discipleship, Bible teaching training class, Sunday service

Ueda: Visiting a mental handicap facility, parenting class for mothers, Life Group Bible study, Sunday afternoon service

Future possibilities: band nights, English classes, after-school school, karaoke night, coffee house days and much more…
