Allied Health Specialist

Opportunity in South Asia

Description

A 150-bed hospital in rural South Asia operates a rehabilitation unit for disabled children, for up to 6 inpatients, and also over 1500 outpatients, both at the hospital and in remote community clinics. Adult therapy services are also offered for In and Outpatients. The Allied Health Specialist provides clinical support and guidance to local therapy assistants in physical, occupational, and speech therapies, and other paramedical, nursing, and medical staff. This role ranges from a preferred minimum of 1 year up to 3+ years and provides the opportunity to partner with an international team of followers in one of the least-reached locations in South Asia.

Requirements/Qualifications

Minimum Master’s degree required. Some professional experience is preferred, but not required. Proper medical credentials are required. Must have the passion to serve the poorest of the poor and a willingness to work in a low-tech environment. Ability to live in rural and unpredictable conditions required. Must be resilient and adaptable and able to work on a multi-cultural and multi-denominational team. Must be willing to engage in training local health workers as much or more than doing bedside care.
