Bible Teacher for amaZioni Leaders

Opportunity in Southern Africa

Description

Do you have experience teaching the Word of God in a church or Adult Bible Class? Wouldn’t you love to teach adult students who enthusiastically receive biblical instruction and immediately put it into practice?

Your experience in teaching the basic truths of the Bible can be put to great use in Zion Bible College of Swaziland. Many classes are located in remote rural areas, while some are in more urban settings. Class sizes range from 20 to over 150 students. Most students are amaZioni pastors and church leaders who have never received any formal Bible training. They are hungry to learn what the Bible says. They take what they learn in class and teach it to their churches. Your teaching will be quickly multiplied many times over. Opportunities for additional ministry abound—Bible studies, discipleship teams, workshops, conferences, mentoring, women’s ministries, youth and children’s ministries—the list seems endless. Cultural sensitivity, humility, flexibility and a willingness to learn are necessary attributes for success in this work.

There is an opportunity to come short-term (a month or two) to gain a better understanding of the ministry. Contact TEAM if you’re interested in this sort of “vision trip”. You would be teaching in English (with the help of a translator) during a short-term trip.

About Zion Bible College:

Zion Bible College has more than 800 amaZioni pastors and church leaders attending monthly classes in 20 locations around Swaziland. Who are the amaZioni? In 1904, missionaries from Zion, Illinois came to South Africa to share the gospel. After only two years, they were recalled for financial reasons. As a result, many of these new converts reverted to a mix of Christianity, ancestor worship, and African traditional practices. Eighty years later, their numbers had grown to an estimated 12-15 million across much of southern Africa. In 1986, missionaries from Zion felt a responsibility to return and train the amaZioni leaders in the truth of God’s Word, recalling them to the true Christian faith. TEAM is partnering with ZEMA (Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa, www.zema.org) to train these church leaders who are hungry for biblical truth. Since the amaZioni still hold a strong allegiance to their founding church in America, they eagerly receive instruction from a multicultural team of ZBC Bible teachers. But we are only scratching the surface. We are overwhelmed with requests to open new schools, but simply do not have the personnel to meet the need. We need more teachers, Bible study facilitators, and support staff. Come join us!
