Serve in a summer internship with a ministry to international student workers. Every summer over 1000 international students from around the world come to Virginia Beach to work in the seasonal tourist industry. Local churches run a ministry to care for their practical needs and to enable community friendships that lead to Gospel conversations.
This ministry offers an internship program for young people exploring cross-cultural ministry. Internships can be customized to the strengths or the goals of the interns. All internships will have a mentoring component. If you have a heart for reaching young internationals, sharing the love of Christ in word and deed, and a desire to build your ministry, organizational and leadership skills, this might be for you.
-A high school diploma and at least 1 year of university studies.
-Ability to speak languages other than English not necessary, but a plus, especially Mandarin Chinese, Russian or Turkish.
-A license to drive in the US is a must and ownership of a vehicle is preferable.
More important than education is a Godly character and a habit and desire for loving others and sharing the Gospel. People skills and an ability to work with others will be necessary. Creativity and individual gifting is valued, so ask first before assuming you’re not a good fit! This internship is intended for those who may be considering vocational cross-cultural ministry in North America or abroad but may be a good fit for others.
