Family Connection Foundation Outreach
Opportunity in Thailand
Description
Family Connection Foundation is the outreach arm of a church in Chiang Mai, Thailand, creatively meeting the needs of the community. In cooperation with Thai believers, this ministry strategically focuses on women, children, and communities.
Women: Anti-Human Trafficking efforts include education, prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation. The foundation helps communities combat the lure of sex trafficking through higher education and increasing community health education. They empower women and their children through access to social, financial, and emotional support in order for these women to gain independence and provide safe childcare for these women. Crisis Pregnancy Resources give hope to young women with unexpected pregnancies who potentially face being abandoned and shamed by their families and communities. Many of these young women turn to illegal abortions or suicide. These resources provide care and support that empowers many of these women to choose life and pursue their dreams.
Children: Several different initiatives focus on caring for children in Thailand ranging from providing loving homes for orphans and caring for sick infants awaiting adoption to helping kids stay in school through grade twelve through after school programs, libraries, and mentoring.
Communities: The foundation focuses on serving urban communities by developing Bible studies and training materials in the Lahu language for church leaders throughout Southeast Asia. Community centers also reach out to Buddhists through art, music, baking, English, and children’s ministries.
