Description
Indigenous people in Taiwan have a unique scenario when it comes to religious background. The majority of the indigenous peoples in Taiwan now are at least nominal Christians. However, compared to other Taiwan people groups, this population has a shorter life expectancy, higher rates of alcoholism and substance abuse, lower educational level, and a higher likelihood of being exploited.
This Discipler team member will minister to and help disciple a population struggling with social issues such as alcoholism, substance abuse, dysfunctional family patterns, prostitution, and exploitation. This person will train and develop leadership in indigenous churches and will be a resource to Han Chinese churches with indigenous members. Types of ministry will include indigenous language Bible study and discipleship training. This type of ministry is new and has not yet been established, so this team member would need to be innovative and have a pioneering spirit. The duration of this role is a minimum of 3 years.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Discipleship experience and experience or training in minority population needs
- Self-starter, visionary mentality
- Desire to collaborate with workers to explore resources to do this ministry
