Description
A 150-bed hospital in rural South Asia operates a rehabilitation unit for disabled children, for up to 6 inpatients, and also over 1500 outpatients, both at the hospital and in remote community clinics. Patients are usually seen first by medical assistants, and then by trainee doctors, who consult senior doctors when needed.
An experienced senior doctor will provide patient care as well as support the national staff ensuring quality service for the rural poor. A long-term doctor would help give clinical leadership to a team of 1 senior and 4-5 junior national doctors. This role ranges from 9 months to 3+ years and provides the opportunity to partner with an international team of followers in one of the least reached locations in South Asia.
Requirements
Minimum of a Master’s degree and proper medical education and prior experience is required for this position. This position can be filled by either a Family Practice or an Internal Medicine professional. Must have the passion to serve the poorest of the poor and a willingness to work in a low-tech environment. Ability to live in rural and unpredictable conditions required. Must be resilient and adaptable and able to work on a multi-cultural and multi-denominational team. Must be willing to engage in training local health workers as much or more than doing bedside care.
