Physician-Obstetrician/Gynecologist

Opportunity in South Asia

Description

A 150-bed hospital in rural South Asia has a very busy OBGyn department, with over 3600 deliveries per year, and a busy outpatient and inpatient unit for antenatal, postnatal and gynecological patients.

A female OBGyn specialist is needed to support its existing long-term consultant in ensuring quality service for the rural poor and helping give clinical leadership to a team of 3-4 senior and 4-5 junior national doctors. This role ranges from 9 months to 3+ years and provides the opportunity to partner with an international team of followers in one of the least reached locations in South Asia.

Requirements

Minimum Master’s degree required. A few years of professional experience preferred. Must have the passion to serve the poorest of the poor and a willingness to work in a low-tech environment. Ability to live in rural and unpredictable conditions required. Must be resilient and adaptable and able to work on a multi-cultural and multi-denominational team. Must be willing to engage in training local health workers as much or more than doing bedside care.
