Opportunity in South Asia
Description
A 150-bed hospital in rural South Asia has a Health and Development program that provides holistic health services, including mental/ emotional health services. A psychiatric nurse will expand and further develop this work. The nurse will look at current services and advise current health care providers, as well as further develop community-based grassroots initiatives for mental and emotional health care. This role ranges from a minimum of 1 year up to 3+ years and provides the opportunity to partner with an international team of followers in one of the least reached locations in South Asia
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in trauma healing and disaster response preferred. Must have the passion to serve the poorest of the poor and a willingness to work in a low-tech environment. Ability to live in rural and unpredictable conditions required. Must be resilient and adaptable and able to work on a multi-cultural and multidenominational team. Must be willing to engage in training local health workers as much or more than doing bedside care.
