Running a small business is an excellent way into the culture. People who work in trade, manufacturing, and consulting are respected in the community and have ample opportunities to build relationships with nationals. The key is to build the business in such a way to allow yourself time for ministry-whatever that ministry happens to look like. You’ll join a small but growing group of Christian expatriate businessmen. Training in the various legal requirements of running a business is available.
- A bachelor’s degree is helpful but not required
- Commitment to ministry
