Teachers, Primary School
Opportunity in Chad
Description
In northern Chad, TEAM uses avenues such as literacy programs, water and agricultural projects, health programs, and education to establish a positive presence among the people.
Teachers are needed for a primary school in Ziguey. We are starting the first ever school in the Daza language. Someone with a teaching background could be a tremendous help. The goal of the teacher would be to teach either English or French and work with our Chadian school administrator to oversee the functioning of the school. We are also establishing a community health center and clinic there. The teacher will be working with an experienced missionary based in the capital city of N’Djamena, a 12-hour drive away.
Ziguey is a remote area that is home to many nomadic/camel-herding families. Living conditions would be like camping, but with a permanent small one-room house.
Job responsibilities include: learning the Daza language, teaching three hours a day on weekdays in either French or English, helping to train local Daza-speaking teachers, giving input into developing our Daza school materials.
Requirements
Adventurous spirit required. Teaching background helpful but not required.
