University Ministry Leader

Opportunity in South America

This opportunity is with TEAM’s ministry partner South America Mission (SAM), an evangelical and interdenominational mission organization with a vision to see the church of Jesus Christ multiplied across South America, transforming local communities and the world by embodying the kingdom of God. SAM works in five countries in South America: Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, and Paraguay. SAM’s missional emphases include incarnational living, reproducing authentic disciples of Jesus, multiplying churches and church networks, training Godly leaders, and enabling transformational initiatives within the local church.

There are over 100,000 university students in the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Many young adults flock to Bolivia’s largest city for post-secondary education in hopes of bettering their status in society and finding a good job for their future. These university students are open to the gospel and searching for their place and value in the world. The University ministry leader will be a person with a passion for discipleship and college students and will use whatever skills and passions they have as a platform to engage with students. Missionaries with ESL or sports backgrounds have the easiest in-roads with the students. Many volunteers are often asked to become part-time professors or TAs in English classrooms at the university level. The University Ministry leader will schedule meet-ups or hangouts with college kids at local cafes, parks, and plazas as well as evening events for English conversation or discipleship. The duration of this role will be from 9 months to 2 years or more.

  • Undergraduate degree is required
  • 2 or 3 years of experience in discipleship and personal evangelism is required. At least one of those years being with university students
