I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada when I was a kid. My family moved back to Hong Kong where I finished my elementary and high schooling. At 21, I am a recent Sociology graduate of Queen’s University in Canada.
I am an avid thinker, foodie, and sports fanatic. My greatest love, however, is people. I have an obsessive curiosity for listening to someone’s narrative, and figuring out who they really are. When I sit face-to-face chatting with someone, conversing lives with them, I have never cared who they are or where. I believe this passion to know and deeply care for others has led me to serve overseas.
I was called to Love the people of Israel last summer. Taken from my journal: Day #6 Aug 3, 2013 – Old City, Jerusalem.
“I looked around. Darkest night, shimmering ‘bubbly’ lights filled the landscape with majestic music creeping in on our conversation from the Tower of David. It was perfect – to be with brothers and sisters. This is home. Sitting there in the chill, I did not feel cold. With the team I shared about how we all worshipped and prayed as one as God’s people, together. I closed my eyes and entered that place of solitude: haven, comfort, inner-peace, home, refuge, hiding place, God’s presence … it is the place I choose to go when I’m scared and when I’m bursting with joy. It didn’t matter that I stood in the heart of Israel. I carry this fortress within me wherever I go. I’ve walked through its gates in Hong Kong, and explored the ramparts in Canada. My God lives in me and through me, just as He is the Father of Israel. I will never forget the unity of the body of Christ and the Spirit and the power of peace that was shown. Indestructible joy is this.”
Mainly, I will assist teaching at a school, facilitate activities at a community centre, and get involved with small groups at a church in North Asia.
Primary Prayer Request
