My Story
I began my ministry with TEAM in 1982 as a teacher at Christiansen Academy, Rubio, Venezuela. I relocated to the US in 1992 to assist TEAM missionary kids returning to North America for college and work. In the early 2000’s I transitioned to TEAM’s Learning team where I helped develop programs and resources to encourage, stimulate, and equip cross-cultural workers. This included overseeing orientations and developing curriculum for a variety of in-house learning events. Another focus was coordinating the development of language and culture learning resources. Check out the “exploring culture” site at: https://lifelearner.org/culture/
I’m currently in Taiwan learning Chinese.
Ministry Focus:
Helping develop an onboarding program for new missionaries to Taiwan and the Asia Pacific Region. I’m also on the leadership team and handle various administrative tasks.
The People:
Taiwan is home to people straddling ancient Chinese traditions and hi-tech globalization. The combination of a hi-tech materialistic society with the entrenched traditional religion that combines ancestor worship with Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism is a barrier to spreading the Gospel.
