Elmer Lorenz

My Story

Elmer and his family served with TEAM in Indonesia for 19 years before taking on various TEAM roles in North America. For the Lorenzes first 8 years in Indonesia, they worked in a remote tribal village among the Auyu people, a language group of about 17,000. For the following 11 years, they worked in the small coastal town of Manokwari and Elmer served as the ministry area leader, also working closely with the leadership of the TEAM-related national church association. They returned to the U.S. in 1998 and Elmer served as Director of New Member Development for two years before becoming the Operations Director and CFO, roles he filled until early 2017 when he became TEAM’s Personnel Director.

Elmer is curious, likes to laugh and passionately believes the local church is the hope of the world. After many years of walking with Christ, Elmer says he is often stunned by the simple daily lessons of faith and biblical living that he needs to relearn. And he likes to pretend he can catch fish..
