Eric was born and raised in a Christian family in Cambridge, ON area. Growing up in that setting, Eric had always been interested in missions as missionaries came to visit his church every so often to speak of the work they were doing in other parts of the world. He gave his life to Christ at a young age and was baptized when he was 12 years old. As Eric grew up, he was able to attend short-term mission trips in Mexico, Ukraine and Costa Rica. It was in Costa Rica where he met Veronica, who was a translator serving with a missionary organization in low-income communities throughout the country.
Veronica was born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica. As an infant, Veronica experienced challenges after her father abandoned her and her mother. She became a believer when she turned 12 years old and got baptized the following year. Later on, Veronica was given opportunities to attend Christian schools and obtain her degree in English Teaching as a Second Language through her university in San Jose. Veronica felt the need to serve the people who did have not the opportunities to study. Therefore, she started volunteering her time in the missionary organization where she met Eric.
After five years of teaching English, Eric and Veronica felt God’s calling to go back to Costa Rica to serve full-time single-mothers and their families in areas at-risk in Costa Rica. Their heart’s desire is that God would use them as instruments to help this population breaking free from poverty and the cycles of abuse and violence that they are immersed in as they learn to provide for themselves through the love of Jesus, ESL and vocational training.
They have taken “Perspectives” missions course and look forward to nurturing their understanding and revelation about their mission’s call and work.
