Gordon and Julie Hengeveld

My Story

Gordon and Julie spent two and a half years in Tokyo, Japan from 2015 to 2017. During that time, the joyful ministry, deep love for people, and meaningful relationships experienced confirmed God’s calling for long-term service in Japan. In 2018, they will return to Japan devoting themselves to two years of full-time language and culture study in order to better communicate at a heart level with Japanese people.

Our hope is that our Japanese friends will experience the presence of Jesus through our life and the life of the Japanese church with whom we minister so that those who are hurting will ultimately see the all-surpassing worth of Christ and live for Him to the fullest.

Ministry Focus

Discipleship…living a life devoted to Christ with our Japanese friends, earning the right to be heard, pointing them to Christ in every facet of life.

The Local Church… “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35) We desire to help build the Japanese church to be a place of community and belonging and supernatural love for one another.

Through these things, our hope is that our Japanese friends will see the great value of Christ, be empowered to extend it to their neighbors, and ultimately influence the world.
