I am a Christ-loving, movie fanatic and my friends would say a little bit of a sports nut. I have the fortune of being married to an amazing woman whom has blessed me with three amazing girls. I grew up north of Atlanta, Georgia going to school locally for both grade school and college. I attended Toccoa Falls College in which I earned a B.A. in Business Administration and a double minor in Coaching as well as Biblical Studies.
After graduation, my wife and I pursued coaching sports in college for several years before our first daughter was born. At that point, God was already working in my life in which He began planting the seeds for international ministry. Upon leaving the coaching profession I began working in a family-run insurance business in which I soon took over as the President within several years. Four years ago I purchased that business and have grown the business from there. It has been a great opportunity to work with teams of people and interact with people that may not know God or His grace.
Later I took my second missions trip with my wife to the Dominican Republic. Our church, The Bridge Church, was working there in conjunction with a member that was doing work through FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). At that point in my life, God gave me His very clear calling to pursue becoming a full-time missionary to South America. Little did I know Angel, my wife, had been praying for that the previous 14 years! God works in cool ways!
I love the Lord, and am so grateful that He chose my husband and I to partner with Him on this journey. I am a mother of three spunky girls. I enjoy playing guitar and singing. My favorite thing to do is teach and coach. I enjoy getting to know people and growing in relationship.
God called me to missions while I was in college. I switched my major to Cross Cultural Studies so that I would be ready to fulfill that calling. When I met Joel, a business major, I wondered how that call would be possible. Whenever I prayed, the Holy Spirit encouraged me to trust and leave the details to Him. So I began to pray and left the details to God.
Thirteen years later Joel and I were on our first mission’s trip together to the Dominican Republic. I remember looking at him as sweat dripped down our faces and just smiling. We were hooked. Jesus was doing something in our lives and it was exciting! We came back from that mission’s trip and then 5 more trips. God continued to move our hearts to devote ourselves to full time ministry in South America.
We were drawn to TEAM because of their passion for people. We are excited to see what God has store for us as we listen to His calling and serve in Barranquilla.
Joel (husband), Angelynn (wife), Children: Taylor (9), Reagan (6), McKinley (4)
We will be working in Barranquilla, Colombia. We plan to use our background in business and sports to create meaningful relationships.
Primary Prayer Request:
Pray for our family as we prepare to go. This next year we are leaving our family, friends, and life in Georgia. We want to enjoy our time with all and continue to invest in our neighbor’s lives.
Pray for our vision trip. We are planning to go in November to meet the team there, and learn more about the people and city. We continue to seek God’s will for us and how we can be used in the lives of the people in Barranquilla.
Pray for direction as we arrive, and invest in people.
