My name is Julie Riddle, and God has called me to Tokyo, Japan. Six years ago A young couple from my church decided to obey the call and go to Japan. I got the privilege to hear them speak about the great need for the gospel in Japan. God began to break my heart for the Japanese people. I began to pray for the country, and the missionaries there. As time went on the burden I felt to pray for Japan became heavier and I felt like I needed to go. So I contacted team and decide on a short term mission trip. I was able to serve in Tokyo, Japan for two months.
While I was there I learned first hand about the spiritual poverty of the country. Japan has over 127 million people, and less than 0.5 percent are bible believing christians. Being from the state of Alabama where our population is 4,903, in the Tokyo area they have over 36 million people alone. Learning that made me realize how many people in Japan do not have access to the gospel.
When I returned, I knew I wanted to reach the lost people of Japan. I started praying about going back right away for a midterm assignment, but God made it very clear that it was not time to go. I went back to school and got my degree in child development. I continued to pray for the time when God would call me back to Japan. God opened the door for me to apply with team during the corona virus quarantine in March of 2020. I will hopefully be returning in June of 2021. I am so excited to work with the SonRise Cafe, helping serve the community, and building relationships so that I can share the love of Christ.
