“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” (Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)
My story…well, it goes like this. Start with a love of African elephants since childhood. Add an intense interest in international relations and countries around the world developed during high school and college. Allow Jesus Christ to capture your heart in your late twenties and give Him control of your life as a result. Learn the importance of properly understanding written words while working as a paralegal. Marry a wife (Shelly) with a strong love for missions that grows your heart for it too. Be blessed with two sons (Logan and Zak) and learn lessons about God the Father that can only be learned by being a father. Earn a Masters of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in your late thirties to grow your Bible knowledge and prepare yourself for training pastors around the world. Reach out to your neighbors to share Jesus and learn to love Indian people and Indian culture as a result. Serve at your local church, where a gift for teaching is affirmed by others. Seek God’s next step on your life journey and find it serving with TEAM in South Africa.
That is my journey in a nutshell. Like a well-woven rug, God is using threads from throughout my life to weave something beautiful. I am far from finished, but praise the Lord He is not done with me!
As I reflect on my life, I am constantly reminded of God’s faithfulness. I was saved at a young age, and my faith was refined in the midst of many trials I faced throughout high school. It was during my time in college that I felt called to serve overseas. However, after graduation, I ended up in a full-time job to pay off loans. Meanwhile, I met and married my husband. My dream was further delayed as he pursued his masters of divinity. But during this time, God was preparing me for the next step. While engaging with our Indian neighbors, God affirmed the passion to work cross culturally, and when the time was right, He led us to the perfect opportunity. All praise to Him!

Kyle's Ministry Focus:
Serve as a teacher at Durban Bible College, where I will seek to help students eager to learn gain additional skills and wisdom to increase their effectiveness in ministry.
Shelly's Ministry Focus:
I look forward to getting involved in the ministry of Durban Bible College through discipleship opportunities, as well as any other needs I can fulfill. In addition, I plan to explore opportunities to use my passion for children’s ministry to get involved in outreach to families in the community.
Primary Prayer Request:
Please pray that I would always remember that teaching is about growing students more than about advancing ideas and, as a result, be focused more on creating disciples of Jesus than on adherents to denominational doctrines.
