Preston and Abby Conger

Background

Abby is originally from Boise, ID, and Preston is originally from Aiken, SC. Abby and Preston met each other at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in the Boston area. Preston has had a heart to share God’s purpose for all people. He has a heart to share God’s purpose to those who feel they have no purpose, and a better purpose to those who feel they already have a purpose outside of God’s purpose. Abby has had a heart for Latin America. She studied Spanish in college and has done mission work in Peru, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. Abby and Preston participated in a Spanish-speaking small group together while they were in the Boston area. Abby helped their church start a non-profit organization called Open Door Immigration Services, which helps immigrants find a path to residency or citizenship in the US. This ministry served many Spanish-speakers in the local community. After a few years of marriage, Abby and Preston both felt called to mission work abroad as a family, and after working with TEAM through the application process felt called to Latin America and ultimately to Guatemala City. They hope to provide Bible training to local pastors in the city through SETECA and to participate and serve in the church life of Iglesia Reforma.

They can’t wait to get to Guatemala City. Preston is particularly excited about learning Spanish and teaching classes at SETECA.
