I was raised in a Christian home, but it wasn’t until I was 15, during a series of sermons by an evangelist, that I realized that I did not have any real assurance of my salvation. I knelt beside my bed one afternoon and told God I was ready to fully and finally give my life to Him. He saved me then and there from my sins, of that I have no doubt. I was baptized a few weeks after that.
I later attended Atlantic Baptist Bible College (now a part of Piedmont International University), where I studied missions; then went on to work for Liberty Baptist Church and Christian Prep in Tavares, Florida.
In regards to God’s missionary calling in my life, I grew up in a very missions-centered church; when I was still young I was fortunate to be able to meet and fellowship with most of the missionaries that came to my church. This has built within me a lifelong desire to see worldwide mission work advance. Though I studied missions in college, God knew that I needed teaching experience in both the church and the school before He sent me and my family out.
More than a decade after I first sought God’s leading regarding foreign missions, He made it clear to my wife and I that we were to go. Much prayer and searching led us to TEAM’s website, where we were introduced to the many needs in the Arequipa region of Peru. Our family is excited to be following Christ as we head to the field of Peru.
I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. God used my parents and my church home to instill in me a love of missions and missionaries. I graduated from Atlantic Baptist Bible College (now Piedmont International University) in 2001, with a BS degree in Elementary Education. Seth and I were married later that year. I taught elementary school for four years in Virginia and Florida. Seth and I have served in various positions of church ministry at Liberty Baptist Church in Tavares, Florida, for the past 13 years. We have been blessed with three daughters: Jillian (June 2005), Lydia (February 2007), and Clara (January 2010).
In the last ten years, God has given us the opportunity to take three short-term mission trips. On these trips, God has allowed us to see that He is at work in other areas of the world. We have sought His will for our service in another part of the world. In 2014, God began to plant in us a real desire to serve Him overseas. We came across TEAM’s website and were excited to see many opportunities to join with other missionaries to best use our gifts in another country. We were able to visit Arequipa, Peru, in March of 2015, where we saw the need for churches that teach the truth of Jesus in order that Peruvians might come to a personal relationship with Him. Our family is so excited to follow God as He leads us to service in Peru.
