Central Asia is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, serving as an important hub for the movement of people, goods, and ideas throughout history. The vast majority of the 90 million people in the region practice Islam, though people are being reached for Christ in small numbers. While Central Asia’s cities have grown more modern and industrial in recent years, many people groups still practice their nomadic traditions from long ago.View Opportunities
Central Asia, home to 90 million people, is at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. It’s been a pivotal hub for the movement of people, goods, and ideas throughout history. Islam is the most common religion, although Buddhism was a prominent religion in the past. The area is too dry and rugged for agriculture to thrive, so the majority of the people earn a living by herding livestock, although there are growing industrial centers in the region’s cities.
TEAM works alongside nationals to serve the people of Central Asia through healthcare and education, building credibility through dedicated service to the Muslim community. We are also involved in community development, including renewable energy projects. TEAM provides a witness for Jesus Christ through loving service, Christ-like example, and sensitive proclamation.
